So I'm reading the news and I see that the banks are moving away from free checking.
This seems like a "no big deal" type of thing. It is not.
Watch some commercials from the 80s. Remeber dominos 30 minutes or your pizza is free guarantee? Ask anyone who currently works in the pizza industry and they'll say that nobody does that anymore because it promotes reckless driving.
That's a load of bull.
They stopped it because a point was reached where the cost outweighed the profit. Period.
So the banks want to charge you (in one way or another) to have a checking account. Why?
The short answer is because they are seeking revenue streams to off-set the losses they are carrying. That means that lending and finance ain't payin the bills.
That means consumers don't have credit.
That means consumers don't have money.
See when the government gives US the money, we just end up giving it to the banks. (See 1940 thru 2002)
When they give it to the banks.... well the banks hire people to tell them that they need our money too.
If the banks won't spend their money and the government spends all of ours overseas, and the consumes are all in debt and no longer being extended credit (see 1950 thru 2005) well....
Corporations top the rescue.
Medical care in this country is already run by big business. Wanna see how that works? Get really really sick and spend a few years dealing with the world of medical care. Trust me, the worst part about illness is the hospitals and doctors.
Imagine the prison system or welfare system being privatized.
Sounds funny right now, but think about this....
Debt can land you in jail.
The poverty line is about 30k a year in the US.
If you lost your job how long before you dipped under that 30k a year?
Welcome to 1984.
