The Rules are mostly up to the creator of the world.
There are, however, some general rules:
1. Adult content: Your forum may have adult content, but in your initial post you must *specifically* state the level of content you will allow.
PG - Everyone is happy and nothing bad ever happens. No violence, sex level cannot be higher than "holding hands", absolutely no profanity including "ass" and "hell"
PG-13 - This is like T.V. Non-graphic violence, text of a sexual nature should allude to what's happening (not describe it in detail), Profanity is limited to words you'd hear on an episode of House.
R- (potential for your boards to be restricted to being able to be viewed by consenting members only) You will allow graphic violence, text of a sexual nature, and profanity. If this type of text is a part of your board due to the nature of your world, and not something that is a focus, your board probably won't be restricted.
NC-17 - Your board is restricted to being able to be viewed ONLY by consenting members of your world.
2. Forcing roleplay. No person at any time shall engage in a "forced" roleplay. If your board does not have rules for settling disputes/combat/encounters/etc. then all members must either seek approval or use suggestive text to resolve.
EXAMPLE: (forced roleplay) Tony shoots you in the face and kills you.
EXAMPLE: (non-forced roleplay) Tony fires his pistol at you, aiming for your face.
3. Character-jacking. No person may cause any effect on another person's character without permission. No person may use another person's character without permission.
4. God Moding - No person may "god mode" any game world, unless the game world specifically allows players to god mode.
EXAMPLE: (god moding) Tony conquers Europe and becomes the emperor of Europe. He is now rich and has a giant army at his command.
EXAMPLE: (god moding) Tony leaves the bar, learns kung fu from the greatest kung fu teacher in the world, then comes back and kicks all your butts.
EXAMPLE: (god moding) Tony invents the cure for cancer and becomes the most famous person in the world.
5. Vacancy: If it appears you've abandoned your room it will be deleted after a sufficient period has passed. You can post a message to have it remain open while you are away.
6. Conduct. This is a no brainer. PLAYERS are expected to be courteous and polite.
7. Grammar/Spelling: Spelling and grammar mistakes are acceptable, however purposely using bad grammar and spelling is not. If you are posting from a cell phone or similar device, then specify that so that we understand that.
8. Policing: No person should police other people on the boards. Especially in The Hotel Rooms. There are places to grief or complain, and most complaints should be handled via private message.
Grammar police are not needed, the moderators will decide if someone is purposely using bad spelling or grammar, or just making mistakes.
RP police are not needed. Each board owner has the tools to remove players or delete posts. Criticizing someone's ability to roleplay during a roleplay is not acceptable.
